more cross stitch art cards

Here are the other two... Yes, these are done without patterns. I make them up as I go along.

little cross stitch cards

I haven't finished this, but here's a preview of the cross stitched art cards I've been trying to do....

Greetings September

I have a headache this morning. I think I'm trying to get a cold. Tired. Some people at work are cranky.

Love cross stitch. Love art. I think doing abstract art is kind of like writing fantasy. You can make up your own rules and own designs for the most part. Though there are always basic rules to follow. IMHO, of course. It is my blog. ha ha

Okay, must do something work related.

Another Yahoo Group

I've had this group for a couple years now. Started out as the idea of sending and receiving a variety of Christmas cards, and went on from there. Now we send cards out once a month to people in our assigned groups.

Artistic stuff, and quiltathon pictures

This is proof of my having attended the Tucson Quilt Guild's 2007 "Quiltathon". All quilts made for this are given to charity.

This is me hard at work. Note how focussed I am.

This was a table devoted to tying quilts. Karen in the red cap, Kathy
standing up. Mary, my sister, is on the end on the right. I don't
recall the lady's name who sat beside me... Dottie? This was
Tuesday evening, 8/8/07.

Okay, this is the collage I did for Tessa's retirement.

For Tessa's retirement, some pictures of activities
in the department, Jen's wedding, and her baby
boy, Joaquin. The lady in pink symbolizes Tessa's
walking for cancer fundraising.

The collage is mixed media done on an art canvas. Acrylic paint, Mod Podge, some spray stuff I was trying out, various art papers. Of course I missed some people like Lupe and Laura, but I'll get them another time.

interesting website

I snagged this from one of my Yahoo art groups-

Abandoned Village in Italy

Lovely photos, kind of haunting, but I think it is really interesting. Why was it abandoned? I don't know.

Quiltathon

Today was the quiltathon. I took the day off from work, and helped. Its kinda of funny as I don't really sew.... I mean, I can work a sewing machine to a certain extent but anything more than sewing a straight line is taxing my ability. So usually what I do is "tying". I managed to get one, yes one, quilt done. Wooo.

But over all I think we did pretty good. We must have gotten at least 50 done completely. My sister will find out the real number in a couple days. She has to recover first.

The Closer - I love this tv show.

Monday, Monday

I had a good weekend. Working on an artsy gift for a friend at work who is retiring. Tomorrow is her last day. I also visited with friends. So Monday comes around... I miss my first bus into work, so I had to wait 40 mins for the next one. The chicken that I had bagged up for lunch today or tomorrow (leftovers from dinner over the weekend) got left behind at home on the kitchen counter. Argh!

I went out to lunch today anyway, had a good pulled pork taco. "carnitas" I think is what it's called in Spanish. Either way it was good, not spicy and didn't give me indigestion. (always a plus)

Sleepy now. Missing my naptime.

Writing prompts

I started a group on Yahoo just for posting writing prompts. It's one of those "newsletter"
formats. No chatting or posting fic. Just sending out writing prompts.

wow

I didn't realize I was so behind here!

I'm going to a writer's group meeting tonight with my friend Cara. I hoping it will be inspirational, etc... I really really want to work on more original fiction this year with the aim towards finishing and getting published.

New goal: must be published before I turn 50. (dear god, I said 50, yikes!) That gives me, choke, 5 years.

I also want to do more with my art this year. Like finish more than one painting. I wanted to work on my zine, but that's going to be on hold a bit.

Well, anyway. Helloooo!

continuing saga of...

Getting enthused about writing again. Wish there were more hours in the day!

Reading James Scott Bell's "Plot & Structure" book. Very interesting, really enjoying it.

Wore hat to work first time today. I think it has it's own personality, and it's out to torment me.

almost bedtime

Walking and reading not good. Especially up street with occasional traffic.

"woman hit by car while reading gay male erotica"

heh heh

Question: do I try and finish "Dead Bob" and attempt to submit it to Loose ID? Looking at the information this afternoon. So very tempting. But, you know, the whole "finish writing the damn book" thing. *sigh*

April

Today is LeeAnna's birthday. I called and she insisted I sing happy birthday to her. So I did, and of course she giggled.

Reception at work for departing dept head. Delicate situation, but I think it went well.

My life is walking. I saw a quote that I like, it went something like "when you find yourself walking through hell, keep walking." That's me. Starting to get really warm, not just the kind of "toying with you" warm. It's gonna be a long summer!

And people are interesting. I've been saying this for years, but it gets reinforced in my head every so often. People are interesting.

Friday

I love fridays. Fridays really are my favorite days. :)

Tuesday was a fun day. Great quilt guild meeting. Got to see Elinor Peace Bailey talk about her dolls. That was really fun. My sister attended a class that she taught on Thursday. I was envious but it would have been useless for me to attend. My sewing skills are very limited.

Today I attended a conference across town. It was work related. It was interesting in a good way, and enjoyable. But I did sneak off early, went to Borders, and then came home.

I've got lots of art to work on this weekend, a lot to get done. Should be a good weekend, I think.

Friday!

Friday! Yay! It has been a weird week. I'm glad it's over now. This weekend should be fun. Oh, and I took Monday off so I could catch up on art projects.

Having fun teasing friends today. I should be more careful, cause there's always retribution, but they are so funny. LOL

Dinner time! Yay!

Achy Monday

Feel like crap today. Everything aches. Skin hurts, muscles are sore. I hope I don't really have anything since I had lunch with Marcella and Baby. Marcella is fun to chat with, and Baby is so adorable!

I don't want to work on zine website with not feeling well, I'll screw something up knowing me.

Everyone else is gone now, just me in the office. Nice and quiet, but I have a couple more hours to go to stay awake. Ugh.

Blue Sharpies

My favorite color is blue, so naturally my favorite Sharpie is a blue Sharpie.

We went to the renaissance festival yesterday, and had a really nice time. I splurged and got myself a hand-made, leather bound journal. Not cheap but well worth it.

Today I had a movie fund raiser (watch a movie of your choice, give money to this one particular charity). Besides my sister and I, only one other person showed up. Oh well! We had fun anyway. We watched "Music and Lyrics" and really enjoyed it, and then had lunch at Olive Garden.

So it was a good weekend.
